The Fardier, also nicknamed "Rider" (Rapide Intervention Droppable Equipment for Raiders) for better English understanding, meets the requirements of the 11th airborne brigade and French special forces. Designed to quickly seize the terrain, it facilitates logistical movements and ensures support and command in areas inaccessible to conventional vehicles (except in heavily snow-covered zones). The system also enhances the self-defense of deployment zones and allows for rapid aerial deployment, despite a limited range of action. According to the 2019-2025 Military Programming Law, 300 vehicles will be delivered by 2030 to the 11th airborne brigade and the Special Operations Command.
The cabin is protected by a foldable roll bar, fixed on a tubular welded steel chassis. A "ski" (actually protective plates) protects the undercarriage, allowing the vehicle to handle rough terrain but without offering anti-mine or IED protection. The vehicle can accommodate two light machine guns, such as the FN Minimi or MAG.
